In recent years, the distance food products travel between
source and consumer has been thrown into the public
spotlight.
Ever committed to reducing the distance raw materials have to
travel and to the local farming economy, MMF launched "Crops to
Cash", a scheme designed to source raw materials directly from
locals farms.
Building on our strong relationships with local growers, we now
plant and process, in partnership, several "trial crops" each
year.
The trials investigate new varieties of existing materials, such
as peas, naked oats as well as crops not traditionally grown
in this area that might provide an alternative to established
crops, such as lupins .
